Sixth-grade students at CMS had an exciting opportunity to engage in a hands-on science experiment led by members of the Staples High School Science National Honor Society. The high school students facilitated a titration experiment using ammonia and vinegar, allowing our young scientists to observe pH changes firsthand.
With the help of two engaging indicators—bromothymol blue, which turns blue in acidic solutions, and phenolphthalein, which turns bright pink in basic solutions—students were able to see chemistry in action. The sixth graders enthusiastically participated, asking insightful questions, which the high school students thoughtfully answered. It was an exciting experience for the community!
