      CMS PTA Weekly Update

January 4, 2021

For our FIRST Weekly Update of 2021 (and the first in a few years!), we would like to begin by saying “THANK YOU!” We wouldn’t be here without the help of so many people in our community.  Thank you to (and in no particular order!):

  • Adam Rosen, BMS faculty, staff, families and students for being so welcoming and for being our “home away from home” for the past 3 years.

  • BMS PTA for working alongside us to make this all work!

  • Don O’Day and the entire CMSBC for their commitment to creating a safe and beautiful learning environment for our school community.

  • Kris Szabo, Lauren Pitocco, Micah Lawrence, and the entire CMS faculty and staff for their flexibility, 8professionalism, hard work, and dedication to our children during this challenging time (and always!).

  • CMS PTA Past Presidents Lee Goldstein, Sue Hermann and Liz Falk for advocating for our ENTIRE school community.

  • The Westport BOE, Superintendent Tom Scarice, all of the administrators and staff of Westport Public Schools, and the Town of Westport for their continued support.

  • Our children for their perseverance through so many difficult situations.

  • AND all of YOU; for your patience, understanding and support!

The Westport Library and Westport Public School’s PTA Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are proud to announce the launch of Diverse Books Need Us, a curated list from the Library’s collection that features characters that have been historically underrepresented in children’s literature.  This significant initiative supports Westport’s commitment to provide an excellent education to our children and develop global citizens and future leaders. The Library staff selections are targeted at four age/grade levels: kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade, middle school, and high school.  Books were selected and will continually be updated that feature characters who are Asian, Latinx, Black, LGBTQ, Native American, have a disability, or are Neurodiverse.
